Does free calamari appeal to you? All you need is a fishing rod, a squid jig and a little luck. The upsurge is due in part to the rising reliability of the squid population, he said. Among anglers, squid have a reputation for being erratic. Until about three ago, it was hard for anyone to predict when — or if — they would come close to shore. Chris Harvey Clark, a Dalhousie University biologist, said that until recently the resident squid of Nova Scotia was the illex, a highly migratory species with a short lifespan.

New Glasgow is a beautiful riverside town of 9, residents, located in northern Nova Scotia, which serves as the commercial-service centre for the region of Pictou County.

The Margaree is a beautiful little river. The water is very clear, so clear infact that on one run I saw a salmon resting in the middle of a pool as I fished it. The river can easily be fished with a small two handed rod. I had many runs that I fished without getting my whole scandi head out of my guides. The fishing was good when I was there in late July. I think this was mostly due to the rains that had just come through Cape Breton, and brought the river up and the fish in.

The first evening I fished a couple runs that a Halifax fly shop employee had shown me. The first was incredibly narrow with a big back eddie that swirled along the near side for a good hundred feet, I wasn’t to impressed with the run, but the angler that fished through it before me and who waited to fish it again, said it was good and that he had seen a guy land a large salmon from the run the morning before.

The run below was more to my liking, alot more like a classic Steelhead run, but no grabs on either run.

You know, the kind of place where you pay to fish. You have to keep what you catch. We’ve never caught a fish less than two pounds. At four dollars a pound it doesn’t take too many fish before you’re handing over fifty dollars. It’s a tradition we started many years ago in order to accommodate Noble who has two artificial knees.

When you’re his age, and been a carpenter all your life, you’re entitled to artificial knees. It doesn’t seem to affect his sex life, except he admits to making a lot of clanking noises. I stay well clear of him when there’s lightning around. Noble loves to fish.

July 28, Planning a trip to a new area can be challenging but I had a lot of help! Canadian friends I had met in Florida gave me advice on all the places we needed to see during our Nova Scotia trip. Actually, it was almost a bit overwhelming.

Email A camera trap captures a bull mose, Alces alces, as it descends to a forest clearing, New Brunswick, Canada. On one side of the land bridge thrives a healthy population of more than 25, moose; on the other, numbers have dwindled to as few as All moose face poaching, parasites, climate change and habitat loss. But unlike their neighbours, Nova Scotia moose were dealt an unlucky geographical hand. But the corridor is increasingly a pinch-point for travelling wildlife: How crop monocultures are threatening our food supply This spring, the NCC procured three new properties totalling 95 hectares as part of an ongoing campaign to create a haven of protected forests and wetlands on the isthmus.

Their running total now stands at more than 1, hectares. Yet from the outset, their efforts seemed plagued by mixed messages. Even now, for example, you can hunt moose on the New Brunswick side of the isthmus, but not in Nova Scotia. How, then, can they impress the urgency of the situation on the public? The answer lay not in science, but in branding. Though already a few years old, the clever moniker garnered unforeseen national attention.

Nocera is currently working in collaboration with the NCC and Laval University to satellite-tag moose calves and document their movements. What makes a sexy scene for a moose?

There’s a new squid in town — and the fishing is fine

I have excellent credit, no outstanding payments, fully paid car, just completed payment in full of our west coast mortgage with the sale of our condo there, which had power connection that is fully paid for and completed. My question, is this normal or are they fucking with me? I’ve never heard of such a thing as a 2 year deposit, especially not for a basic utility. I kept emailing back to them and noticed their customer service emails are not agent specific?

The perfect solution for staying toasty warm and relatively dry while diving in cold or temperate water environments. When diving in cold water, oftentimes a traditional 7mm wetsuit is just not enough thermal protection, yet a full-blown drysuit ends up being too much suit at too high a price. Here’s where the semi-dry shines.

The semi-dry dive suit’s design concept is simple: Combine the snug fit of a wetsuit with the rear horizontal dry zipper and some of the sealing elements of a drysuit. By doing so you eliminate the bulk and hydrodrag that’s inherent in most drysuits, while minimizing heat-stealing water flow that’s inevitable in most wetsuits. Made with percent water-repellant 6mm Everflex neoprene, the NOVA SCOTIA features glued and blind-stitched seams, a YKK semi-dry zipper, a fold-under neck seal and double zippered wrist and ankle seals, all of which work together to keep water seepage to a minimum.

Everflex panels strategically placed in high-stretch areas maximize range of motion. The Diamond Span inner lining is water draining and insulates almost the entire suit, plus makes easy work of donning and doffing.

It is not my intention to belittle or diminish what happened to them there. Family members or friends have both have called for better safety measures and have written MLAs. The problem I have with their proposals is that they, in general:

The park offers two campgrounds with 50 open (19 water and electric sites), 17 partially wooded, and 32 wooded campsites. The park also features picnic areas, and a large supervised beach. There is a change house with showers adjacent to the beach.

On Saturday the Selects received their Provincial and Atlantic Championship banners in a pre-game ceremony where the founders and builders of female hockey in Pictou County were celebrated. Following the ceremony the Selects trounced the Nationals by a score of Landyn Pitts led the way with a hat trick while Alyssa Fitt added a brace.

On Sunday, Fundy bounced back and kept things a little tighter, however, it was the Selects who came out on top on a four goal performance by Ella MacLean. Mariah Linehan added a pair while Pitts scored a single. The Selects continue to hang on to first place and will return to action next weekend when they take on the Bussy Auto Penguins at home on Saturday at the Wellness Center.

They travel to Bedford on Sunday where they will face the second place Station Six Fire for the first time this season.
